The Cake: A Moving Target

Tradition calls for newlyweds to feed each other the first bite of cake with care and tenderness. In Lille, that attempt turned into pure slapstick. The groom, eyes dancing with mischief, aimed for his wife’s mouth, but she instinctively leaned back at the very last second. The result: a forkful of raspberry and pastry cream landed squarely on her nose. The photographer captured the exact moment the surprise registered on her face, a dollop of cream hanging from the tip of her nose. The whole room erupted, turning a formal ritual into a scene straight out of a family comedy.
